Genus Holoplatys Simon, 1885

Diagnoses of genera of South East Asia: Holoplatys (7-9; 7-9). There appears to be but one record of this genus in our area. A specimen of H. pianissimo from Singapore was identified by Simon in 1885. As the main centre for this genus is Australia, the Singapore specimen might have been just a chance importation. Holoplatys spp. have a long, flat, oval cephalothorax which is truncated anteriorly and a long, flat, oval abdomen. They are often found under the bark of trees, particularly eucalyptus. They resemble Marpissa sp. (p. 319).
Distribution: Holoplatys is mainly an Australian genus with a few species occurring in nearby places and in New Zealand, plus the odd record from Singapore. Murphy & Murphy 2000: 274. By courtesy of the Authors' and the Malaysian Nature Society.
